Two things in particular make this book stand out over a lot of Christian fiction I ve read recently 1 Since both the main characters have already given their lives to Christ before the story begins, there isn t all that pre conversion angsty ness that is present in so many other books in this genre.2 Something other than the problem of evil is the spiritual problem the characters have to deal with I don t mean to be dismissive of either a person coming to Christ or of understanding or tryin Two things in particular make this book stand out over a lot of Christian fiction I ve read recently 1 Since both the main characters have already given their lives to Christ before the story begins, there isn t all that pre conversion angsty ness that is present in so many other books in this genre.2 Something other than the problem of evil is the spiritual problem the characters have to deal with I don t mean to be dismissive of either a person coming to Christ or of understanding or trying to understand why evil is in the world, but there are so many other issues a person can face that can also make for telling a good story, but that are often neglected in this genre I ll leave you to preferably read the book or if you must know beforehand read some of the other reviews to find out what exactly the characters have to overcome in this book.A couple other pluses Though Levi and Eden are attracted to each other physically pretty much from the beginning, they also get to know each other s minds through writing long letters to each other It was also cute how they hand delivered them, since they lived so close to each other That Levi told Eden and later her father himself about his past, and that it was not the climax of the story.I ll definitely be trying some of Mrs Witemeyer s other books in the future

Current mood during the confinement Serious overdose of sweet Christian prairie western romances I ve binge watched When Calls the Heart, Christy, the Janette Oke Love Comes Softly movies, beta read Melissa Jagears new book oohhhh it s so good y all, I can t wait to post my review , and then, this wonderful little gem called to me from the depths of my too long list of unread books on my Kindle. It was exactly what I needed when I needed it It s thick romantic syrup at its best, much too ob Current mood during the confinement Serious overdose of sweet Christian prairie western romances I ve binge watched When Calls the Heart, Christy, the Janette Oke Love Comes Softly movies, beta read Melissa Jagears new book oohhhh it s so good y all, I can t wait to post my review , and then, this wonderful little gem called to me from the depths of my too long list of unread books on my Kindle. It was exactly what I needed when I needed it It s thick romantic syrup at its best, much too obvious and predictable most of the time, but who cares The romance is perfect, and that s what I wanted I think the general agreement on this book is that everyone loves Levi I don t know how you couldn t love Levi A mountain sized blacksmith whose strength and power are constantly alluded to, and whose heart is as big as the sky A highly intelligent mind hidden behind a speech impediment Dark secrets of the past GIVE ME MORE I adored Levi, obviously He was wonderful, and his personality just radiated off the pages I could see the direction this novel was taking from page 1, most plot points are predictable and those that aren t necessarily don t come as a big surprise either, but that s ok, because I picked this up wanting only my syrupy romance dose, and I was well served Eden and Levi bond over books and flowers Yes friends, BOOKS AND FLOWERS LITERATURE AND FLORA WRITTEN WORDS AND BOUQUETS I think you get the point, but I am still SO HAPPY that this romance featured two of my favourite things.Eden has every bookworm s dream job she runs a library from her own beautifully decorated with flower accents everywhere home, and makes pressed flower art in her spare time while at work And has the charming, handsome and heart melting blacksmith come visit her every day And then they have intense bookish discussion via letters which they secretly pass to each other via the books WHERE DO I SIGN UP Not to sound overly superficial, but I didn t care much for the rest of the plot I appreciated the message, although it was a little heavy on the preachiness and Bible quoting, and I liked the overall story, but there were several major plot points that I just skimmed, because I wasn t that interested in brawls, not when there was an impeding proposal which had been interrupted Anyways To each book their time and place I was all in for the romance, and I got it My palpitating heart can now calm itself down and turn tosensible reading and by that I mean plunge back into two other wonderful novels I ve been reading, Laura Frantz s The Lacemaker and Rebecca May s Roses Shadows

Someone should have warned me that this is a CLEAN Christian book.Meaning lots of talk of the Lord and so forth, and no sex The hottest scene was a kiss and the girl seeing the guy shirtless.NOT my usual cuppa However It was still good writing and I would give it 3.5 rounded to 3 bc the heroine is ANNOYING She got better later, but she is so annoying so often She s judgmental and uppity and full of herself And when she hurt Levi I wanted to hurt her too, bc she just didn t deserve him So Someone should have warned me that this is a CLEAN Christian book.Meaning lots of talk of the Lord and so forth, and no sex The hottest scene was a kiss and the girl seeing the guy shirtless.NOT my usual cuppa However It was still good writing and I would give it 3.5 rounded to 3 bc the heroine is ANNOYING She got better later, but she is so annoying so often She s judgmental and uppity and full of herself And when she hurt Levi I wanted to hurt her too, bc she just didn t deserve him So that s why the rounded down, and 3.5 in the first place Not bc it s a clean, Christian book.Tho I will NOT be reading another one of this genre if I can help it

Karen Witemeyer has done it again Not since Julie Lessman have I given the first three books by an author five stars in succession To Win Her Heart has definitely earned my accolades.I could go on for a complete review on the characters alone They are crafted and honed until they stand from the page in full three dimension Levi is not only an exceptional hero, but he stands as one of the most touching characters I have ever read He is strapping in his masculinity, but his hearts is what mo Karen Witemeyer has done it again Not since Julie Lessman have I given the first three books by an author five stars in succession To Win Her Heart has definitely earned my accolades.I could go on for a complete review on the characters alone They are crafted and honed until they stand from the page in full three dimension Levi is not only an exceptional hero, but he stands as one of the most touching characters I have ever read He is strapping in his masculinity, but his hearts is what moved me.But what I loved the most is the uniqueness of the plot Instead of sticking with the basic romance formula, the author mixed it up and in fact the ending was a complete surprise for me I wasn t sure how tension would be maintained, oh but believe me, it was The ending was a bittersweet conclusion and having seen the characters grow through the story, I nearly cried In a good way. From beginning to end I was completely enthralled with the story, I wish I could go on for another 200 words, this book deserves it It s a complex plot that goes beyond mere heart pounding romance and layers characters that move the heart, emotions that tug at heartstrings and a faith that inspires. This review is my honest opinion Thanks to the publishers through CFBA for my copy to review
